Votsalakia is a magnificent vacation spot, as anyone who has ever visited there can testify. The area has also the name Kampos Marathokampos and is located 46 kilometers southwest of the capital of the island, Vathy. This marvelous place consists of an amazing stretch of sandy beach, approximately 2 km long, with crystal clear waters and moderate depth and the tourist village Ormos Marathokampos which is sheltered by the bay. Actually, there are two charming villages almost one next to the other, often referred to as Marathokampos and Votsalakia.
The beach itself is completely organized with umbrellas and sun beds, so that you can be protected from the sun, which especially during the summer’s midday hours can be ruthlessly hot. Being rock free, this beach allows an easy entry even for children and older people, and its sand gets finer and finer as you approach the sea. The beach also offers an excellent opportunity to practice water sports.
As we already mentioned, the village Marathokampos is also found next to the beach and offers all the modern services and amenities that a perfect tourist place should have. Modern hotels, stylish studios, comfortable apartments and simple rooms to let can be found in the village and all over its vicinity, offering you a family atmosphere and comfortable stay.
The deep blue waters of the Aegean Sea and the surrounding nature create the perfect relaxing scene and atmosphere for your holidays. In Votsalakia village’s promenade you can find many souvenir shops, some bars and restaurants where you are welcome to explore and taste the traditional dishes of Samos. Along the main street you can also find supermarkets and small grocery shops. If you enjoy exploring new places and taking photos, you will find beautiful landscapes to capture with your camera while wandering around the area.
Apart from the main beach there are also some smaller beaches with shallow water just around the corner, mostly sandy with some pebbled or rocky spots. Most famous of them are undoubtedly Psili Ammos, and Limnionas.
Votsalakia area may be the picture perfect location to rest yours eyes on but it has somehow managed to remain very intimate, romantic and quiet. This beautiful corner of Samos is more than a place for your holidays; it’s a spot to fall in love with.
